Hooray! Bobby & Wynell Crump Made the Move!
Hello Family. June 2007 is a memorable time for Bobby & Wynell. At last, the long waited for dream of moving to Columbia, South Carolina was finally realized-see pictures . Bobby is finding it hard to believe that he can just ride up into his house through his garage and he doesn’t even have to worry about parking space. He still has the New York attitude that you have to- in his words, ‘lock all the doors’! (Even though we do have to be careful so as not to be caught off guard. Suburban living has a more tranquil pace. However, as the scriptures says: we are living in the last days of this system of things. Wynell is still in disbelief of the southern hospitality. She spoke of the time when she visited the pharmacy and the “courtesy clerk” took an unusual interest in servicing her. Even taking the time to see if any of her medications would have adverse side effects. She also spoke of the time when visiting the supermarket that the clerk showed an extraordinary attention to an elderly gentleman. Derik and his family was visited this weekend (July,13-15) to help unpack (How nice. The value of training your family to be caring). Danielle agreed with Wynell in saying ‘it’s like being on vacation’. (How true it is). We’re all looking forward to seeing Doffy, Doris & others on Monday, July 16th. (Wonder what they’ll be planning.) LOOK OUT! Stay tune to “The CrumpChronicles” for updates. Have a happy rest of the year.
Love from- Shirley & Walter

The Freeport School District was informed several weeks ago that New Visions, its first Magnet School, had been selected as a 2006 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education in recognition of high student performance. New Visions scored above both county and state averages and ranks among the top 10% in performance statewide. It is among only three schools being honored this year on Long Island. Excited students greeted guests ranging from Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, Councilwoman Angie Cullin and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Eric L. Eversley, to scores of parents and other well wishers.
“I share this honor with all of Freeport,” Principal Renee Crump told the audience gathered in the New Visions gymnasium. “What happens here, happens at every school in Freeport.” All of the children of New Visions played a role in the often touching ceremonies. Third and fourth graders sang the school song and a new Song of Celebration: “Join our school in celebration… proud of our new designation. We are a blue ribbon school!” Kindergartners and first graders marched through the audience waving blue flags as the Freeport High School drum corps provided the stirring beat. Pairs of second graders presented each New Visions teacher with a blue carnation and the threesomes circled the room to the tune of “Unforgettable” and the sound of great applause.
